Q1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

As a group we have answered majority of Q1, relating our music video to forms and conventions of real media products, whilst speaking about Godwin, Fisk and Altman to support our answers. However, there are some things we have missed off the video that I would like to add separately. Below I will discuss how our Website and CD insert uses forms and conventions of real media products.

Feedback on our music video draft

We sent our first draft for our music video to our teacher and here is the feedback. We are aware there are many slight improvements to be made, but we will work hard as a group to complete them all before the deadline!

First draft of our music video!

Here is our first draft for Mine, Niamh, and Hyleana's music video 'Say it'. We have received feedback about the video, which will help us to improve the look of the video, and make it more exciting for our viewers. The final piece will be published on Monday 20th April, along with our CD album and website!

Update! Filming Day 4

We've just got home from filming our 4th and hopefully final session of filming for our music video 'Say it'. We travelled to Hyleana's house straight after school so we had a good few hour filming before it got dark. Today, Alex came to film with us to help us out and play the character of Niamh's boyfriend. We took the shots of him and Niamh being loved up, but also some shots of them falling out and arguing. Today we also filmed shots of me and Niamh being happy together, and we borrowed my friends gay pride flag to make it clearer to the audience the relationship we was portraying. Another shot we filmed was our party scene, where it shows Niamh drinking a bottle of wine on her own and getting drunk, whilst her friends are enjoying the party in the background as they're laughing and talking. Niamh is then shown in the toilet being sick and regretting the night she had. Overall it was a successful filming day as we have hopefully got all of our footage now, and are able to just concentrate on editing our video and carry on with our Digi pack for our CD.

Updated Merchendise

Here are some of the updated merchandise we have created collectively as a group. We all made our own set of products, but we have now come together and discussed what we wanted to be put on our website. To create this merchandise we searched for images on the internet, then we made them our own by adding the Foxgloves logo or writing on the products by using Photoshop.

Filming Day 3!

Problem!

Hey guys, it seems as though we have a problem because we can't find a male who is willing to play the part of our boy, who will be Niamh's boyfriend in the video! If we can't find a boy this will face us with some problems as a group. However, if it comes to our last resort I think we will have to end up changing the plot of the story a bit in the video and have Niamh's brother play the boy instead, and change the video slightly by showing that he isn't accepting the fact that Niamh thinks she has feelings for another girl.

Day 2 Filming!

We started off by me and Niamh meeting at Hyleana’s house at 11:30. This time Niamh actually remembered the tripod and didn't leave it at home, so we was able to get a lot more steady shots. However, we still did have a problem as after about an hour of filming our SD ran out of storage, as we hadn't deleted the pictures and videos we had previously took on it from when we practised using the green screen at school. We tried uploading old footage onto Hyleana’s laptop, but the footage wouldn't show up, so therefore we was unable to get it off the memory card without deleting it!

We came up with a solution and rang Niamh’s dad, as he owns a few SD cards, however, when he turned up to drop the SD card off, it was too big and wouldn't fit in our camera, so we just had to delete some of the pictures/footage we had already taken, to ensure we still got a bit of filming done.

The main thing we did on filming day 2 was take lots of pictures for our website which we could also use in our CD digi pack. Hyleana had a bright pink wall in her spare bedroom which was perfect, as we had a photo shoot in front of it, and these pictures will create a more girly feel to our website and CD cover.




After this, we filmed Niamh lip singing the words to the whole of the song outside Hyleana’s house with a brick wall behind her, we did this in case when we got to the editing point, if there are any gaps, we can easily fill them in with Niamh singing.

Although we did manage to get some bits done today, we didn't do as much as planned, so therefore we are all going to meet again at Hyleana’s house to carry on filming the bit’s we haven't done and hopefully get majority of it finished!

Tour Date Poster

Here is a poster that I created that tells Foxglove fans the tour dates and the arena's we are playing in. It also includes our logo, and a website address to buy the tickets.

Logo

This is our official logo for Foxgloves! It was made by Niamh drawing the fox on the graphics tab, and then uploading it onto Photoshop to draw the added triangle lines in. We thought that by adding the extra lines in on half of its body would make the Fox look more original and up to date. We will be using this logo on our merchandise, our website, and on our CD cover.

Me, Hyleana and Niamh have been working on our website for our band 'Foxgloves'. So far, we have started the Tour, About, Contact and Home sections. Here are a few pictures to show our progress.
